Autosport have revealed that Codemasters’ F1 2009 game will be released this autumn, but only on the Wii and PSP. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will follow sometime in 2010 after receiving a makeover to enable HD resolutions. All versions of the games will feature the new KERS kinetic energy recovery system, slick tyres and the full 2009 aero rules. All of the current cars and drivers will feature including the new and very successful Brawn GP team with their BGP001.
Website Pocket Gamer has claimed that a source inside the Sony development team informs them that the much-rumoured PSP2 is well advanced and should be released by Christmas. The new unit is reported to be more of an iPhone look-alike than the current unit integrating a large touchscreen that will slide open to reveal the traditional control buttons. Sony hasn’t really acknowledged the existence of a PSP2 yet but expect full specifications and details to be unveiled at the E3 Media and Business Summit in June.
Harmonix and Electronic Arts have announced today Rock Band Unplugged will be released in North America and Europe on 9 June 2009. Rock Band Unplugged combines the major highlights of Rock Band 1&2 to create a full band experience. The PSP-only release will contain at least 40 master recordings with more available over the PSP’s wireless connection through the PSN store.
Sony is preparing to release an impressive 2009 PSP line-up which includes headline titles such as MotorStorm and LittleBigPlanet. Hopefully this will help boost the handheld’s 3 million strong user base in the UK. The recent arrival of the PSP 3000 model along with rumours of a PSP 2 should also help to boost numbers and make up some ground on the much more popular Nintendo DS Lite.
