Website PSBeyond has claimed that Gran Turismo 5 will be released for sale in the UK on 25 September 2009. Whilst this seems almost too soon, the Slim PS3 did catch us by surprise with the speed with which it came to market. The source of the date is reported to be a Sony official.

Retailer Amazon.com is showing a release date for the long awaited driving sim Gran Turismo 5. Their site is stating a 29 December release, which seem a little odd to us being the week after Christmas and after the years biggest sales period. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see but at least it’s looking a little closer than sometime next year.

Producer Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed in an interview with GTPlanet that Gran Turismo 5 will feature night racing and weather changes, both a first for the GT series. As well as night racing and weather there is a possibility that a collision damage system may also be introduced. Looks like GT5 will be even better than we thought, although there was no news on a final release date.

Bad news for Gran Turismo fans. The creator of Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi, has revealed in an interview with Joystiq.com that the full version of GT5 might not be released before 2010; so much for the original rumoured date of late 2008! On the up-side GT5 Prologue is due to be expanded to fill the gap for now. The due-soon update will feature more cars, more tracks and many more features. We assume that this will be free, but who knows? In the meantime, if you still haven’t got yourself a PS3 yet (and why not?) you can sign yourself up for a Free PS3 here and get the latest generation console for nothing.
